Emotional Alchemy II: How to Transmute Shadow into Power

Introduction

In this blog post, I we are going to be doing a crash course on shadow work and emotional alchemy intensively, where I will be sharing deeper insight into the inner workings and physiology of shadow work alchemy, some of my most effective exercises for transuming lower vibration emotions and states in to higher vibrations to be used to improve manifestation practice and the use of the law of assumption.

At some point in this work, there comes a time when you just can't "stay positive" anymore, avoiding the uncomfortable emotions becomes a chore, and the constant chasing of the light seems futile. You realize that there is nowhere left to run to but to the dark/

Nobody likes like feeling bad, and everyone would readily to whatever the can to be rid of any icky motions that appear within their emotional experience during the day, people blame, deny, project and shut down rather than admit to how they feel and accept the emotions that they are carrying around that begs to be addressed and sent on it's way

We have all heard the saying that "spirituality is not always love and light", this is the part that little to no one talks about, and when they do, people rarely listen. I am talking about shadow work.

What is shadow work?

Shadow work is a process whereby a person is required to sit with their lower vibrational emotions (shadows), such as fear, anger, anxiety, and desires, through a process of exploring and integrating the "shadow self."These repressed emotions are allowed to rise to the surface to be healed, which then fosters personal growth.

That is basically what shadow work is in a nutshell, to sit with the parts of oneself that one has refused to feel for God knows how long, the process is not often, never pretty, nor is it gentle. However, the work is real, and so are the results.

Carl Jung said, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”

This single line could summarize the entire science of emotional alchemy.

Understanding the Mechanism of Shadow Work

Remember how solidified on how emotions are energy in motion, if so, then shadow work is teaching ourselves to sit with the heavier, denser frequencies like anger, sadness, guilt, shame, jealousy, fear and in doing so letting them move through you instead of suppressing or projecting them. This process is similar to checking out at the grocery store.

Let's say you have been shopping all day, week, month, whatever in a STORE called the LIFE MART. I suck at naming things. Please bear with me, and as you pass through each aisle, you pick up something, and you put it in your cart, right? This will be the metaphor for interacting with people and picking up on their energy from the exchange. Shadow aspects of their will awaken shadow aspects within you that you are avoiding, and they pile up just like the shopping cart.

At the end of the day, you need to check out because you can't take any of the stuff home till you pay for it.

Shadow work is similar in the sense that there are blessings in the form of mental and emotional clarity one stands to gain from checking out these emotions. Very often, a lot of them will have a price tag that will leave your jaw and heart dropping to the ground, but you gotta do whatchu gotta do.

Take accountability for the contents of your cart and pay up.

Now listen, the shadow is not the enemy of light; it is the doorway to it.

There can be no light without darkness and no shadow without the light; see, light exists because of contrast.

Most of these emotions that you are feeling all day are not even you, some are echoes looped in from your past, some are enegetic projection from people thinking about you from the past or presnt, others may even come from earlier versions of yourself i.e your childhood programming, cultural background, societal dogma and even emotional residue from people you have been hanging around and stuff.

We are vibrational beings afterall

And with that being the case, every thought we have and every feeling that goes with it leaves a trace - a breadcrumb trail.

Often this feels like punishment, an attack or a flaw, but it is just unprocessed energy begging to be seen and sent on its way. Energy likes to flow, and when it stagnates, things start to go all sorts of ways.

Shadow work is what makes us aware of these vibrations, and in so doing, we can stop them from controlling us unconsciously.

How To Do Shadow Work: Sitting with the Shadow

First of all, there is no textbook way of doing shadow work; this process I developed from other techniques I saw online and what works and resonates with me. That being said, here it goes:

“This energy cannot destroy me. It wants to be known.”

Here I learned that the simple act of conscious presence transforms energy. Awareness is like a flame and will burn away any and all resistance to reveal what lies hidden underneath the surface.

At first glance, shadow work will look and feel like exposure; it will feel like you are throwing yourself to the wolves, as if you are standing right in the middle of an emotional storm in summer clothes. But as soon as you begin to see the storm’s rhythm and you start recognizing which emotions belong to which old stories and identities, you instantly start to feel your body releasing the tension.

Once you know this, you stop fearing darkness. You start mining it.

Carl Jung once taught that the shadow is not evil but an unintegrated part of a person's psyche. It is where our repressed power lives, waiting to be unleashed.

Here lies every trait that we deny, our repressed rage, denied lust, envy, hate and greed. All that energy that can be channelled into personal power, once understood, the goal was not to destroy the shadow, but to integrate it, to make it part of our conscious toolkit.

In spiritual alchemy, this step is called nigredo, the blackening, which is when the base matter (our unconscious emotions) begins to dissolve so that new light can form and without this phase, no transformation can occur.

Think of the phoenix burning to ashes to birth new life, and you've got the right picture

The most crucial turning point in shadow work is the moment you realize that every dark emotion contains fuel.

That is the essence of alchemy, converting low vibration into high ones.

This happens naturally when I stopped running away from my feelings and started to actually feel them without resistance or judgment, and soon afterwards, the shift happens, and the shadow starts to move, and in that movement, it transforms to light.

When Effort Turns Into Automatic Transmutation

The whole thing works like a muscle, so the more you practice, the easier it gets the next time around. Eventually, this process will become automatic. When low vibrational energy enters your field, your self-awareness picks up on it instantly. You are better able to discern where it came from and what to do with it. It is like your aura learns to recycle energy on autopilot; it will turn every dark emotion into momentum toward your wish fulfilled.

Shadow work helps you build energetic immunity, it makes you less reactive, more magnetic and grounded in your own truth with clarity. You will no longer fear negative emotions; heck, you will welcome them, because now you know they can serve you, not just torment. They become the frictional force that moves the wheel of your state of being to sync with your manifestation.
